The Italian football association FIGC has initiated an investigation against Juventus professional Nicolo Fagioli over possible sports betting. According to AFP, an investigation was carried out in August. The 22-year-old is not only threatened with trouble from the association. The Turin public prosecutor’s office should also investigate.
Fagioli is suspected of placing bets on illegal websites under various identities. He faces a three-year ban and a fine of 25,000 euros. According to AFP, there is no statement from the association yet.
Juventus can’t stop there. Last season, Italy’s record champions had to accept a deduction of ten points due to a cheating scandal. Last month, French midfielder Paul Pogba, 30, was banned for doping. So now there is new excitement.
