McLaren driver Lando Norris’ pit stop in Sunday’s Qatar race was the fastest in F1 history.

The pit crew changed all the tires on Norris’ car in just 1.80 seconds.

F1 released a video of McLaren’s performance at X (formerly Twitter) and described it as “ridiculously” fast.

The previous pit stop record in the F1 series belonged to the Red Bull team. Max Verstappen’s stop took 1.82 seconds at the 2019 Brazilian GP.

In 2019, car tires were 13 inches. Today they are 18 inches.

The second fastest pit stop of the season was also produced in the Qatar race: Ferrari’s 1.93 seconds. Charles Leclerc was able to enjoy the quick service.

A basic quick stop in F1 today takes about 2.5 seconds. The cars have not been refueled in the middle of the race since 2009.

In Qatar, the teams got to practice changing tires a rare amount, because during the race all drivers were forced to make three stops. The exception to the rule was due to the Lusail motor track, which wore down the tires really violently.
