Bénes misses a late penalty
Hamburger SV at least temporarily regained the top of the 2nd Bundesliga table on Saturday. Despite a draw with newly promoted Wiesbaden, the North Germans moved past 1. FC Kaiserslautern due to the better goal difference. City rivals FC St. Pauli could improve again in the evening against Nuremberg (from 8:30 p.m. in the TM live ticker).
After the defeats in Elversberg and Osnabrück, it was the third game in a row against a promoted team that Hamburg could not win. HSV professional Miro Muheim only managed to equalize in the 89th minute after Wehen had taken the lead through Aleksandar Vukotic (81st). László Bénes missed a penalty for the guests in stoppage time.
After the 1-0 (1-0) win against Hansa Rostock, SpVgg Greuther Fürth remains undefeated in the fourth game in a row and has worked its way out of the bottom third of the table. An own goal from Damian Roßbach sealed Mecklenburg’s defeat.
1. FC Magdeburg only managed a 1-1 (0-1) draw against Karlsruher SC, meaning the FCM has now been without a win for four games. Fabian Schleusener gave the KSC the lead after eleven minutes with a shot from 40 meters away. Luc Castaignos (49′), who was substituted at half-time, equalized with a heel after a corner kick in front of 24,366 spectators. While Magdeburg remains firmly in midfield after a good start to the season, the North Baden team only has nine points to their name.
