Update in Ekstraklasa
Record champions Legia Warsaw have temporarily overtaken defending champions Rakow Czestochowa in the market value update of the Polish PKO BP Ekstraklasa. The capital city team increased by around 3 million euros to 39.4 million euros, while Rakow lost slightly and now stands at 38.7 million euros in terms of squad value. The big winner is Lech Posen, whose squad value increases by around 5.5 million to 37.9 million euros, thus closing the gap to Legia and Rakow (on the changes in squad values).
The offensive players Filip Marchwinski (21) and Kristoffer Velde (24), the big winners of the 233 retaxed players, are partly responsible for this. Homegrown Marchwinski increased by 3 million to 4.5 million euros, Velde, who was signed from Norway in January 2022, increased by 2.5 million to 5 million euros. Both are now in the top 10 of the Ekstraklasa.
Kovacevic first despite minus: The most valuable Ekstraklasa professionals
“Marchwinski is clearly on the rise again after a slump since the end of last season and is delivering top numbers in 2023/24, and he was also nominated for Poland’s A team yesterday,” explains Michael Sroka, Transfermarkt Area Manager PL. “Velde has been particularly good internationally since last season, in the summer there were rumors about a move to Turkey, especially Trabzonspor and Besiktas were traded.”
With Velde in joint third place in the Ekstraklasa market value ranking and directly behind his teammate Bartosz Slisz (24; +1 to 5.5 million), Legias Ernest Muci (22) is now. According to Sroka, the attacking midfielder “was particularly strong internationally, scoring two goals in the Conference League win against Aston Villa. In the summer there was said to be an offer from Celta Vigo for 4 million for the Albanian international.”
Rakow goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic (25) continues to lead the Ekstraklasa, but his market value has fallen by one million euros to 7 million euros – his first loss since December 2020. Also Legia goalkeeper Kacper Tobiasz (20), who is one of the biggest Talents in the league are losing market value: 1 million to 4.5 million euros. Sroka reasons: “Kovacevic and Tobiasz have already made a few mistakes this season, and neither of them had the hoped-for move to a top league. Kovacevic was linked with Leverkusen and Fiorentina, among others, Tobiasz with Roma and Wolfsburg – with the exception of the Giallorossi, each club decided on a different new keeper.”
This is how transfer market market values work
The transfer market market values are created taking into account various pricing models as well as a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market market values cannot generally be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The goal is not to predict a price, but rather an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are listed here. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for detailed market value definition).
