There were a lot of problems on the roads in North Holland this afternoon, the ANWB reports. This caused chaos on the road and three closed roads: the A22, the A9 and the A10 at the Coentunnel. All problems have just been solved, which means that everything is slowly getting back on track.
With the emphasis on slow, says a spokesperson for the ANWB. “Due to the large number of problems, it may take a while before everyone can continue driving again.” It will take a while before everyone can drive smoothly again.
Accidents
The A22 was closed near the Velsertunnel due to an accident. The road was only closed in the direction of Velsen. The road has just been reopened.
The A10 near the Coentunnel was also closed due to an accident. It was an accident involving several vehicles in the tunnel. The ANWB says that this has also just been resolved and the road is clear again.
Broken bridge
A9 was closed due to a technical problem. The open bridge wouldn’t close anymore. A mechanic was on the way, but he also ended up in a traffic jam. The mechanic has now been on site and the bridge has been closed again and the road has reopened.
All the problems ensured that it also became quite stuck on provincial roads, a spokesperson said to NH Nieuws. This is because drivers started looking for a different route. On the N197 towards Heemskerk and the N516 towards Zaandam Oostzaan there is certainly more than half an hour of traffic jam.
The spokesperson for the ANWB emphasizes that despite all the problems that have been solved, it is not immediately back on the road. Everyone can slowly drive on again, “But it is now a matter of patience before all the traffic jams are gone,” says the spokesman. “Drive carefully, because we are not waiting for new accidents.”
