Opposites attract: That is the core message of the new Prada collection. It was presented on Thursday in Milan on the occasion of the Fashion Week, which runs until Monday, with the trends for the autumn/winter 2022/23 season. Male and female, day and night, rough and delicate, pragmatic and glamorous – Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons – the two co-creative directors of the label – effortlessly resolved these opposites.
And this is what it looked like in concrete terms: black, architecturally austere dresses are accentuated at the neck with striking chains. Oversized parkas are embroidered with flowers, woolen coats have bushy feathers on the upper arm. Classic men’s jackets with pronounced shoulders are complemented by a transparent skirt in the women’s version. There is a big focus on skirts anyway, they are often made in an experimental mix of light and heavy fabrics. The typical graphic Prada patterns adorn many sweaters. And the undershirt is promoted to outerwear in different variants.
With 60 shows presented in front of an audience, the Milan Fashion Week program is almost as extensive as it was before Corona. All the big names in Italian fashion will be there. Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci, among others, will show their latest women’s collections in the coming days.
