The British retail chain JD Sports is expanding its presence in the Oberhausen shopping center Westfield Centro. The sporting goods supplier will move into new premises there in autumn and open “one of the largest brand mega stores in Germany on around 1,250 square meters,” said Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW), the owner and operating company of the shopping center, on Thursday. With the move within the Westfield Centro, JD Sports has increased its rental space by almost 900 square meters compared to the previous branch.

For Constantin Wiesmann, Director of Leasing Austria & Germany at URW, the plans of JD Sports contribute to further increasing the attractiveness of the shopping center: “With this extraordinary mega store from JD Sports, we are once again strengthening the profile of Westfield Centro im sportswear and streetwear,” he said in a statement. “The significant expansion of space and the implementation of the new, innovative store concept prove once again that Westfield Centro is the first address for retailers who want to offer flagship formats and special brand experiences in physical retail.”
