Public transport in Drenthe and Groningen will receive 160 new electric buses in the next two years. This means that bus transport is virtually emission-free, five years earlier than planned. A total of 350 electric buses will be driving around the provinces.
In that respect, the Groningen-Drenthe public transport region is one of the most sustainable in Europe. The buses are charged at the Peizerweg in Groningen, which will be expanded in the near future. The renovation should be completed by mid-2024. The new buses will then be put into use.
