The actor Werner Enke, famous for “Zur Sache, Schätzchen,” has passed away at the age of 85. His colleague Uschi Glas bids him farewell.
On July 23, it was announced that Werner Enke (1941-2026) has died at the age of 85. His former film partner Uschi Glas (82) has shared emotional words in his remembrance.
The German actor and author, who celebrated great success in the late 1960s and early 1970s with comedies such as “Zur Sache, Schätzchen” and “Nicht fummeln, Liebling,” passed away on July 20 in Munich after a long illness. This was confirmed by a friend of the actor, referring to Enke’s life partner, May Spils (84).
Spils directed both films, with Enke taking the leading male roles in each. In “Zur Sache, Schätzchen,” released in 1968, both Spils and Enke were co-authors of the screenplay. It was through this comedy that Uschi Glas rose to fame.
A Celebration for the “Zur Sache, Schätzchen” Anniversary Planned
They had originally planned to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the film comedy in two years, as revealed by actress in response to inquiries from the Münchner Abendzeitung. “But now you’re in heaven watching over us,” Glas said, addressing her late co-star. She expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating that working together was a joy, despite their occasional spats. The co-stars had markedly different personalities; Glas described herself as “the bourgeois,” while Enke was “the horror of bourgeoisie.” He fascinated her, and perhaps, she believes, she captivated him a little as well.

Glas fondly remembers Enke’s “wonderful partner,” May Spils, as the first director with whom she collaborated as an actress. She wished to work with both of them again, but that opportunity never materialized. She spent considerable time talking with Spils, and both women believed “that the soul somehow, somewhere continues to exist.” She concluded her farewell with the poignant words: “So, farewell, dear Werner, and watch over us from above, and enjoy your time out there in heaven, in the universe…” (wue/spot) © spot on news
