TikToker Zaher planned a romantic marriage proposal on Alexanderplatz. It was supposed to be THE big surprise for his girlfriend Maya at the weekend. But in the end the applicant was surprised…
Everything was prepared on the Alex. A huge heart made of roses. Candles. A red carpet. There is also a sign: “Will you marry me?”
The scene – surrounded by around 250 people. The smartphones are ready to capture the moment of the heart.
The young woman waits on a chair, blindfolded. Then HE takes off her blindfold and gets on his knees in front of her… Zaher makes his proposal in front of everyone. Waiting for her answer. And Maya – turns around. She flees through the crowd. Is gone.
THAT was probably a clear “no”.
Videos of the botched proposal have now gone viral on TikTok. There are many expressions of sympathy among the comments. But there is also criticism.
Some say the whole thing is a set-up, a social experiment for a YouTube video.
Because: Maya has played a role in Zaher’s videos several times. It is not yet publicly known whether the two actually had a relationship.
Zaher and Maya have now made a statement to their followers on TikTok. Every man for himself. He at his (almost half a million). You with yours (approx. 65,000).
Maya writes: “I have been awake since yesterday because many of you spoke badly about me. You don’t even know me. And you don’t know what I experienced at that moment. Don’t make any prejudices.”
Zaher went live on TikTok on Sunday evening with a video statement: “I proposed to her and all of a sudden she said ‘no.’ There is no reason, I can’t give a reason here. I tried to call her but she doesn’t answer. I prepared everything as a surprise for her, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. That doesn’t mean she has to say ‘yes’. But just running away like that without telling myself I can’t do it, it’s not possible.”
The TikToker is still waiting for Maya to write to him and explain herself, saying that maybe she was too excited about the situation. Or that she left because she was afraid. But there is now (for now) radio silence between the two.
