Fashion that seems to be dissolving: With this idea, Giorgio Armani is sending women into the spring/summer 2024 season. The star designer’s show on Sunday afternoon was the final highlight of Milan Fashion Week. Italy’s fashion elite presented their latest collections there last week.
“This season the vibrations should become visible,” announced Giorgio Armani in his press release. These words were then followed by actions on the catwalk: bright blue tones, a strong green, bronze and silver mix up the neutral tones. Almost all materials shimmer, shine, flow or sparkle.
Sometimes it seems as if they are on the verge of liquefying on the body. Their movements follow the strides of the wearer, who glides along on flat heels. A little heaviness comes into play via striking decorative elements and belts. At the end of the show, the audience received the now 89-year-old designer with a standing ovation.
Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta in Milan
Italian and Caribbean influences meet at Ferragamo. Maximilian Davis, the creative director of the Florence-based luxury label, presented both the women’s and men’s collections at Saturday’s show. Clear shapes alternate with flowing silhouettes and artistic draping. Open sleeves and concise graphic patterns add sophistication to fashion.
Bottega Veneta also showed women’s and men’s fashion in a show on Saturday evening. It impressed with its craftsmanship and cutting art. This resulted in some unusual silhouettes and proportions – created through sculptural shapes, spectacular fringe arrangements, a mix of shapes and layered draping.
Milan Fashion Week ends on Monday with five purely digital presentations, including by Laura Biagiotti. It then continues seamlessly in Paris – because the prêt-à-porter parades start there on the same day. (dpa)
