Groningen supporters not happy with ‘pompeblêden bus’

FC Groningen supporters were not particularly pleased with their transport to the away match against Helmond Sport on Friday. Transport company Drenthe Tours had hired a promotional bus covered with advertising for the Van der Valk hotels in Leeuwarden and Wolvega. In addition to the well-known toucan, pompeblês also adorned the coach.

The football fans were given permission to remove the Frisian symbol from the bus, reports RTV Noord. That was easily accomplished with a little help from everyone, to the delight of the tour operator. “Removing these types of stickers usually takes us quite a lot of time. So it’s actually nice that the supporters did this for us.”

The bus does not belong to the Drenthe Tours fleet. That company in turn rented the means of transport from South West Tours. Drenthe Tours did not know in advance that the stickered bus would transport the supporters.
