I hear the message, but I lack faith. Once again, the Senate promises that things are finally getting better at the citizens’ offices and that Berliners will get a free appointment in two weeks at the latest.

The Senate, then still red-red-green, had promised this many times. The bitter reality: Anyone who looked for an appointment in the online portal on Friday afternoon to apply for an ID card was shown November 3rd as the first possible day! So in six weeks…

Which is absurd simply because every German citizen must have official proof of identity from the age of 16.

It’s time for this office chaos to change once and for all. Voters will also judge the new coalition on this!
