Werder Bremen has decided not to sign test player Kallum Cesay

Was in training as a test player

Werder Bremen has decided not to sign test player Kallum Cesay. The Green-Whites officially announced this on Wednesday. “Kallum did a good job and also presented himself well off the pitch, but he is still a bit away from the Bundesliga. “It wouldn’t have made sense for us to use him primarily in the U23,” said licensing manager Clemens Fritz about the decision.

The flexible defensive player Cesay was trained at Tottenham Hotspur and has been without a club since July, which is why he can still be signed after the transfer closes. The 21-year-old London native, who has already played four international matches for Sierra Leone (two goals), played 24 games for Spurs’ U21s last season, in which he contributed one goal and four assists.

Cesay can play on the right and left side of defense as well as in defensive midfield. Werder only has one regular left-back in the squad with Anthony Jung (31) – the newly signed and more attacking midfielder Olivier Deman (23) would be an alternative – on the other hand there is only one man available in Mitchell Weiser (29). because Felix Agu (23) is still out after an operation. “We have known him for a long time. He was offered to us and the international break is now a good time for it. Kallum is a young player who enjoyed a very good education at Tottenham. He can be used flexibly and can play several positions,” Fritz recently said via “Bild” about Cesay’s personnel.
