René le Blanc believes that we are going too far with everything in the Netherlands. He states that there is too much tampering with all kinds of traditions. “Why can’t you say Chocoprince anymore?!”
It bothers René le Blanc immensely that everything is changing in our country. He believes that the climate is becoming increasingly suffocating. “The Netherlands is becoming a state: this is no longer allowed, that is no longer allowed,” fumes the singer, who is known for a soap on SBS 6 and the somewhat amateurish song If I Tell You, in the Panorama.

According to René, we go ahead with everything. “Take electric driving, I understand that it is being promoted, that will have to do with the environment and pollution. But that doesn’t mean you have to force people.”
He also points to the annual Sinterklaas celebration in December. “Black Pete is also banned, which is understandable, because I understand that there are people of color who feel attacked. But I have been Black Pete for over 25 years with the arrival and now suddenly everyone has to be green or yellow. That also goes a long way.”
Chocolate prince
René wants the Netherlands to get back to normal. “Chocoprince is no longer allowed, Jews’ cake is no longer allowed. You can no longer say black, that has become colored. I think a lot of things are imposed on us.”
How could we organize our country better? “If you look at how things are going in the Canary Islands, I think: take this as an example. Everything is relaxed, no stress. That’s another way to do it.”
Good news for René: Chocoprins is still just Chocoprins. And it’s in the Bonus too.
