Boxer By Sabrina Perez Spouse and coach Diego Arua has died in a tragic way.
President of the WBC Mauricio Sulaiman says in the messaging service X that Arua had a heart attack during the title match and later died in the hospital.
Boxing reporter by Michael Benson by Arua collapsed to the ground at the end of the match when her partner was losing to Skye Nicolson. Arua was taken away on a stretcher.
Perez and Nicolson fought for the interim WBC featherweight title.
The fight in Tijuana, Mexico ended with a unanimous decision. The loss was only the second of Perez’s career. His record is now 18–2–1. Nicolson continues undefeated (8–0).
