TOthere go up real-time – and streaming on discovery+ – Bake Off Italy 2023. The first episode airs tonight at 9.20pm of the new season. The 11th to be exact, conducted by Benedetta Parodi. Based on the BBC format The Great British Bake Off and produced by Banijay Italia, you see 16 contestants in the castjudged by three judges.

Also this year the aspiring pastry chefs will be judged by trio of judges formed by Damiano Carrara, Tommaso Foglia and Ernst Knam. They are three pastry stars, perfectionists and, therefore, demanding. They assign recipes to follow, give advice and… they judge the result.
Ernst Knam is the longest-serving judge. Present since the first edition, in 2013, it is the king of chocolate. Damiano Carrara joined the cast in 2017in the fifth season. Tommaso Foglia, however, is in its second edition. She made her debut last year, taking over from Clelia D’Onofrio.
The veteran is in charge, Benedetta Parodi. Landlady since the first seasonintroduces the competitors and the tests that, from time to time, they have to face. The location is Villa Borromeo d’Adda, in Arcorein the province of Monza.
Who are the contestants in the cast
The 11th season of Bake Off Italia – Desserts in the oven includes 16 aspiring pastry chefs in the cast, aged between 22 and 62. They come from all over Italy, carry out different professions and cultivate different passions. However, the leitmotif it is – as always – a great love for pastry art.
Aurélien is 39 years old and from Saint Michel, France, but he has lived in Rome for almost twenty years. Erasmus was a prisoner and has lived in the eternal city ever since. Today he teaches French at La Sapienza University and has cultivated a passion for pastry making since he was a child thanks to his grandmother’s teachings. Danila is 62 years old, from Montichiari (BS) and left her job to look after her son. She is passionate about modern pastry making and thrives on participating in Bake Off Italy 2023 as a challenge to itself.
Daniela, 52, works in a bank in Genoa and is against marriage. In his future he doesn’t see numbers and bank accounts, but his own catering. She dreams of becoming a home pastry chef. Davide, 48, is from Casier, Treviso. He dreams of opening a restaurant, but in the meantime he is an architect. He is married, has two daughters and cultivates a passion for dancing.
Eleonora, Fabio, Giovanni, Karina and Maurizio
Eleonora, 46 years old, from Tarantosays she changed her life after stomach reduction surgery. She is an optometrist and has fallen in love with Africa. He has founded a charity and among his short-term goals is the opening of a school in Kenya. He dreams of opening a pastry shop in Africa.
In the cast of Bake Off Italy 2023then, there is Fabio, 38 years old, from Foggia. A former bus driver, he left his studies to help his family. Pastry making is his greatest passion and he hopes it will turn into a job opportunity. Gabriele, 22, is from Lucca, studies biomedical engineering in Pisa and would like to become a party influencer. He says baking cakes saved him during the lockdown.
Giovanni, 29 years old, is of Neapolitan origins and lives in Milan. Giovina, on the other hand, is 31 years old and lives in the province of Trento. Originally from Syracuse, she would like to turn her passion for pastry making into a profession. Still, Irene, 31, is a management consultant, speaks three languages and loves yoga and reading. He comes from Tuscia.
Karina, 40, is from Mexico City, but moved to Italy for love. Mother of three sons, she loves running and participates to find the right self-confidence. Maurizio, 49, is from Nola (NA), married and has two daughters. Sportsman, he took part in the New York marathon four times.
Riccardo, Roberta, Tommaso and Xi
Riccardo, 27, comes from the province of Verona and works as a chemical expert. His goal is to open a pastry shop in his town, Pescantina. Roberta, 38, is from Milazzo, in the province of Messina. Eclectic, she teaches humanities subjects, writes for some local newspapers, loves sport and organizes cultural events. Furthermore, she has a cooking blog and her secret dream is to publish a recipe book.
Tommaso, 24, is from Cesena and cultivates various passions, including Japanese, piano, comics and role-playing games. In the end, Xi, 22, from Legnano, in the province of Milan. As a child she moved to China, where she remained until the age of 13. She wants to show her parents that her pastry shop is her path.
Bake Off Italy 2023the tests to overcome
The common thread of Bake Off Italy 2023 it’s the dream. Not only in a dreamlike sense, but understood as the fulfillment of a wish. In fact, the competitors share the hope of transforming their passion for pastry into a profession.
Over the course of the 15 episodes, each of them is asked to demonstrate that they are familiar with creams, sponge cake and everything that pastry art requires. They will test themselves with classic and modern pastry recipesfacing, episode after episode, three trials.
We start with the creative testin which they have to give vent to their imagination and reinterpret the recipes chosen by the judges. Then they try their hand at the technical test, where skill and dexterity are necessary. In this case, the judges taste the dish in the dark. Finally, the surprise testwhich calls into question their creativity.
