Former Greek national player Konstantinos Mitroglou (35) is leaving SV Scherpenberg after just five appearances. The reason for this is said to be a tactical change by coach Ralf Gemmer, as a result of which the well-known striker would have lost his regular place.

“In the beginning I was actually very positive, the first friendlies went very well and Kostas really got into it. But over the past few weeks things have developed quickly in the direction we have now taken,” said Gemmer on Sunday before the 2-2 draw against Arminia Klosterhardt.

Mitroglou, for whom almost 43 million euros were paid in transfers over the course of his career, ended his professional career at the beginning of the year when he switched to SpVgg Rheurdt-Schaephuysen and moved on to Scherpenberg in the summer.
