U-turn at the defender
Sergio Ramos’ sporting future is apparently settled. As the “Marca” and Fabrizio Romano report unanimously, the central defender is about to sign at FC Sevilla. The 37-year-old returns after 18 years at the club where it all started for him before joining Real Madrid in 2005 for €27m.

Ramos has reportedly agreed a one-year contract with the Sevillistas, possibly with an option for another season. According to the Spanish newspaper, the medical check is scheduled for this Monday. Actually, everything had looked like the veteran would sign with the Al-Ittihad Club for two years – then a call from Sevilla FC caused a turnaround at Ramos. In Saudi Arabia he would have been a teammate of Karim Benzema (35), like he was at Real.
Ramos, Hazard & Co.: The most valuable non-club professionals
Money should not play a role in the transfer to Seville for the professional. Ramos also prefers to return to his homeland for family reasons and is willing to make financial cuts, it is said. His big dream is to appear again for his training club before the end of his career. Recently, Ramos has also been linked with a move to Turkey. Sevilla coach José Luis Mendilibar insisted on signing an experienced defender like the Spanish world and European champions, especially since there is still a vacancy in the squad.
In August, Besiktas held negotiations with Ramos, but the club confirmed that the talks had ended because they were too far apart on financial issues. Ramos has been without a club since the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and is one of the most valuable players in this regard with a market value of €4.5m. According to the Turkish reporter Murat Özen, the defender’s signature ultimately failed because Besiktas could not find any additional sponsors to finance it. Now it will be Sevilla FC.
