The supporters of FC Volendam are not exactly reassured. The team lost many strongholds this summer and young unknown players have come back for that. The expectations of the team in the premier league have therefore also been adjusted. “I was hoping for tenth place at first, but staying in it is a great goal for this year,” says a supporter.
With the departure of Filip Stankovic, Gaetano Oristanio, Daryl van Mieghem, Henk Veerman, Derry John Murkin, Walid Ould-Chikh and Carel Eiting, a cartload of players left the fishing village. There is a feeling among the fans that this could have been responded to better. “They could have already brought in replacements.”
