This is what the Drenthe summer looked like, as far as you can speak of a summer

On the other hand, it was the holidaymakers in Drenthe who had to enjoy themselves in the caravan or tent, because according to a young camper at a quiet campsite in Diever, playing outside was not an option: “If there were more children, I would play outside a lot. But Now you can’t because there’s no one else.”

The Prison Museum, on the other hand, spun off in August. It was their busiest month ever. 20,000 visitors managed to find the museum, but according to the prison bus driver and his companion, that is not always a good thing: “Due to the crowds, visitors sometimes get in each other’s way.”

But Moniek Koehoorn, the museum’s communications officer, sees it on the bright side: “This was a successful and very pleasant summer for us.” What is the reason, according to Koehoorn? A combination of factors. “We have very nice children’s activities. We had large group reservations. The Pauper Paradise was here all summer, which will certainly have attracted people. And of course we had a lot of rain in terms of weather, which is actually nice for a museum.”

If you are really fed up with last summer and the wet weather, then there is good news. From tomorrow life will really make sense again. 25 degrees, clean on the hook. And so you can say that the, hopefully long, late summer really starts!
