“We are reopening in the border theater, in Godoy Cruz and Honduras, a beautiful theater, the first sustainable theater in the country. We have been with this work since 2020. We started in February, we did 8 shows and the pandemic cut us short. It is there that we invent things, we made ‘Story of a virtual match’, and then we came back with everything. We kept the structure, but we changed the dialogues,” he says. With book and address Alan Barcelo, in a production in which the spectator is close to the stage, three actors, ManiniLara Morales and Mauricio Viñaslend themselves to the game of this proposal, giving themselves without half measures.
“’Relato de un match’ is basically a comedy that comes to break the prejudices and taboos that people have about sexuality. They are young people in their 30s, who after being together for many years, and say ‘you have to keep maintaining the spark‘, the couple decide to open. And in that opening of the couple, with all the fears because it is a heterosexual couple, Arnaldo appears, who is my character, totally open sexually and predisposed to showing them many things. From there many hilarious events take place, as the synopsis says, where there is drama, comedy, reconciliation. A mix of things that makes the play very entertaining”, Manini sells.
“It deals a bit about the new masculinity, or fluid masculinity, what if they see me with another man. What are the new doubts and uncertainties of a couple who don’t talk. In May we toured La Pampa, and when we went downstairs an elderly lady came crying, she said that her nephew had died a short time ago, and that she had not been able to come out of the closet. And that the message it gives, beyond being a comedy, also teaches many people”, recalls the actor about the public’s response.
“In the theater something happens that, between the public and the actor, a unique feedback is generated, and that does not happen in the cinema, that is why it is also good to encourage people to go to the theater.
