Berlin concert among the top earnings of all artists in July 2023

The Boxscore for July 2023 published by Billboard magazine shows the world’s most profitable tours and solo concerts. There are also two placements from Germany in 13th and 25th place (out of 30). Not from Rammstein, as one might think, but: Depeche Mode and Harry Styles.

According to Boxscore, the two Depeche Mode concerts at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium generated ticket sales of $14.5 million (around $13.5 million). The number of spectators is said to have totaled 142,000 people. Harry Styles’ double shows in Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park brought in 9.9 million dollars (around 9.1 million euros) in ticket money, distributed over a total of 91,000 visitors.

For comparison, the frontrunner is Beyoncé, who is said to have netted $33.1 million in ticket sales from two gigs at East Rutherford, NJ’s MetLife Stadium, with a combined audience of 106,000. Beyoncé appears seven times in the list, followed by Coldplay and The Weeknd, each with four mentions.

In the “Top Venues” list, which shows the most profitable venues, the Berlin Olympic Stadium is in fourth place. In July, the stadium recorded $29.1 million in revenue and attracted 284,000 paying people. First place is Soldier Field in Chicago, followed by MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, and just ahead of Berlin is the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam.

The most interesting is the “Top Tours” list, i.e. the cumulative number of all tour earnings in July:

01. Beyonce with $127.6 million and 503,000 viewers at 11 concerts

02. The Weeknd with 85.7 million dollars and 891,000 spectators at 15 concerts

03. Coldplay ($83.8 million, 678,000 people, 12 concerts)

04. Depeche Mode ($65.9 million, 707,000 people, 14 concerts)

The figures for Depeche Mode and Coldplay are also so impressive because both bands only toured Europe, not the USA, this summer.
