According to reports, the two-time German national player had already clarified his contract details with Sinsheim, but the clubs were now unable to come to an agreement on the fee. According to the newspaper, TSG offered Stach, whose working paper runs until 2024, far less than the around 15 million euros envisaged by the FSV: the offer is said to have been well below 10 million euros. Readjustments are not expected.
Hoffenheim has spent €32.3m on new signings this summer – most recently it was more in 2019/20. Of this, recently 14 million euros for , which is a new record purchase. In return, there are 36 million euros on the income side. At Mainz, the transfer balance looks similar with a slight plus. In addition, Rheinhessen Stach does not necessarily have to sell until 2024, despite the contract, as the contract can be extended by an option for another year. A transfer would therefore also be possible next year.
TSG Hoffenheim’s most expensive purchases
Before Hoffenheim, Atalanta Bergamo was also considered an interested party, just like Borussia Mönchengladbach. There have been rumors for a long time about a possible departure of Stachs, who was signed by FSV for 3.5 million euros from Greuther Fürth in 2021. Since then, the U21 European Champion of 2021 has played 68 games for Mainz, made his debut in the DFB team and increased his market value from 2.5 million to 15 million euros.
