Spectacular relay results in gold medals

The Dutch athletes have won gold in the 4x 400 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. The foursome, including two people from Brabant, Eveline Saalberg and Cathelijn Peeters, ran a Dutch record of 3:20.72.

Eveline Saalberg from Vessem started and ran completely empty on her 400 meters. Lieke Klaver followed her and the Netherlands ran to third place, before passing the baton to Cathelijn Peeters from Dongen. She maintains this beautiful position for the Netherlands. For a moment there doesn’t seem to be any more to it than that.

Until Femke Bol takes over. The world champion of the 400 meters hurdles overtakes the numbers 2 (Great Britain) and 1 (Jamaica) after a smashing sprint.

Wrong stick change
It was a historic race, because a Dutch relay team has never won a gold medal at a World Cup before. It was true that the contender, the relay team of the United States, was missing during this final. They became champions in this part seven times before, but were disqualified because of a wrong stick change. With this gold medal, the Dutch team has won a total of five medals at this World Cup.
