They also had blood samples taken from local residents affected by PFAS contamination. Climaxi cycles from Raversijde, across Kortemark with the Sylvamostort, to Waregem where, near Kruisem, soils are also polluted.
Katrin Van den Troost, climate activist Climaxi: “We are cycling through the whole of Flanders, from Ostend to the Flemish Ardennes, past all kinds of action groups that stand up against pollution in their neighbourhood. Especially around PFAS pollution. We also have the blood of those groups We are meeting here with the ‘We Raversijde’ committee and we are asking for more attention to be paid to PFAS pollution.
At each stop, Climaxi organizes a small terrace for the local residents of affected and polluted neighborhoods. Here in Raversijde too high PFAS values were found in blood samples. Tomorrow the caravan will pass in Kortemark.
