Owner of found bicycle known: man must have a ‘serious headache’

A police helicopter and police dog Aura were deployed on Saturday morning to find the owner of a bicycle that had been left unattended in Etten-Leur. The police wanted to be on the safe side, because they assumed a suspicious situation. Later in the day it turned out that nothing serious had happened.

Or at most for the owner of the bicycle himself. He will “have a serious headache today,” the police reported on Instagram. It is not clear what caused the headache. Police say the man has arrived home safely.

A passer-by had found the bicycle on the Bootspad, in the Kelsdonk nature reserve, on Saturday morning. The reporter thought it was suspicious because no one was around and a bag with stuff was lying next to the bicycle. Elsewhere on the walking path were the bicycle keys and other goods, including drinks.

The alerted police immediately went to investigate and found the situation ‘so disturbing’ that a police helicopter and a sniffer dog were summoned. The investigation ultimately yielded nothing, after which it was asked via Instagram who could tell the police more about the bicycle.

Some time later it became clear who the owner of the bicycle is. It is not known who is involved, but, according to the police, ‘it is likely that he has a serious headache today…’ Lucky in an accident: the man has arrived home safely, according to the police.
