The Danish midfielder, who collapsed during the first group match at the European Championship last year due to cardiac arrest, recently signed a contract with the English club until the end of the season.

Eriksen (30) made his unofficial debut a week ago in an exhibition game with Southend United. The former Ajax player then played for an hour and provided an assist in the 3-2 win.

Eriksen was on the field for almost 80 minutes against Rangers, the Scottish club of coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The Dane was the principal in both of Brentford’s goals, with a corner kick and a free kick.

Brentford will host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday. Eriksen may then be able to make his first official minutes of play since he collapsed against Finland on June 12 last year.

Eriksen was resuscitated on the field and then had a defibrillator implanted in the hospital. This device intervenes in cardiac arrhythmias. However, with such a defibrillator Eriksen is not allowed to play football in the Serie A and that is why he had his contract with the Italian champions Internazionale terminated.
