FC Bayern wins at the start at Werder Bremen

One goal, one assist: Harry Kane’s impressive debut gave FC Bayern Munich a perfect start to the season in the Bundesliga.

The record champion won 4-0 (1-0) against “favorite opponent” Werder Bremen, with new top star Kane playing a key role. The 100 million man set up Leroy Sané’s opening goal (4′), then scored his first goal for his new club (74′). Sané (90th) and Mathys Tel (90th + 4) made it clear.

Coach Ole Werner’s team was clearly inferior to FC Bayern in all respects and continued their series of horrors against coach Thomas Tuchel’s team. It was the 15th home defeat in a row in the Weser Stadium, which was sold out with 42,100 spectators against Munich, the last Werder victory in a direct comparison was almost 15 years ago.

The first successful offensive action brought the guests the lead. After good preliminary work from Kane, Sané surpassed his opponents and kept his nerve in front of goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka. The goal played into the hands of the self-confident Munich team.

Cleverly conducted by Leon Goretzka, who surprisingly called up, the defending champion rarely let himself take the reins of action out of his hands. With a clean passing game, FC Bayern repeatedly worked their way up to the North Germans’ penalty area, only the last precision was missing.

National player Jamal Musiala just missed a second goal in the 19th minute. 120 seconds later, Nouassir Mazraoui missed by just a few centimetres. Against Bayern’s fast wingers, the Green-Whites’ back line had to work hard and often came too late.

But danger also came from the second row. However, Pavlenka was attentive to a long-range shot by Goretzka (34th). But the immense pressure from Bayern didn’t let up until the half-time break. DFB President Bernd Neuendorf, national coach Hansi Flick and DFB sporting director Rudi Völler saw a one-sided encounter up until then.

Werder Bremen’s courage against Bayern not rewarded

After the change of sides, the hosts, unequivocally pushed forward by coach Werner, became a little more courageous. Leonardo Bittencourt narrowly failed (47th), the audience sensed a surprise. Lucky for SV Werder, however, that Kingsley Coman only hit the post in the 58th minute.

180 seconds later, Kane found his master in Pavlenka. But Bremen also had their chances now, Jens Stage missed a promising position (62nd).

So the Munich team had to tremble a little – until Kane scored. The nimble Alphonso Davies was ahead of his opponents and the England captain kept his nerve in front of Pavlenka. In the 84th minute, Kane, who was on the move a lot and kept falling deeper, had finished work. Sané then went one better, substitute Thomas Müller had played hard. For national player Sané it was the first brace in the Bundesliga. Joker Tel.

Before the start of the 113th Bundesliga duel between these two teams, Germany’s record national player Lothar Matthäus carried the championship trophy into the arena. Then “The Boss Hoss” sang the German national anthem. The Bremen national player Horst-Dieter Höttges, who died in June at the age of 79, was also remembered.
