The biggest acquisition in the history of Inter Miami Lionel Messi appeared for the first time in front of his home crowd, when the team had organized a big ceremony for their star acquisition.
Messi announced his intention to move to Miami already in June, but the team officially announced Messi as a player only last Saturday. Sunday’s ceremony was the first time Messi appeared in front of his home crowd as an Inter Miami player.
Miami’s DRV PNK Stadium was packed full of fans who came to watch the star signing. The team had not spared any expenses either, when huge fireworks were purchased for Messi’s first appearance at the stadium.

The Miami fans’ dream night was only hindered by the torrential rain in Florida. The water that fell from the sky disciplined both the spectators and the stars involved in the show.
Inter Miami’s co-owners were waiting for Messi on stage Jorge Mas, Jose Mas mixed David Beckham. It seemed to be bad for the football legend even before Messi’s release, when Beckham slipped on the rain-soaked stage. Beckham was very close to losing his balance, but the soccer legend finally got hold of the situation.
Earlier in the evening, Messi’s former and future teammate Sergio Busquets was presented to the home audience. Miami acquired Busquets earlier in the summer from Barcelona, but the opportunity was also his first as an official Miami player.
The arrival of Messi and Busquets comes at a time of need for Inter Miami, as the team sits in last place in the Eastern Conference. Miami has won only five times this season, when 22 matches have already been played.
