Fewer tourists on De Kust than last year
This weekend De Kust booked the same number of overnight stays compared to last weekend, but 15% less compared to the same weekend last year. The average hotel occupancy was around 80% this weekend.
In total we now reach 2.0 million tourist overnight stays in the first half of July. That is again 10% less compared to the first 15 days of the summer holidays in 2022. It is currently difficult for day tourism to make a good estimate due to the changeable weather forecasts.
But with the start of the construction leave in sight, this could soon change. The catering establishments on De Kust are already preparing for a few busy weeks.
Bruges
In Bruges, the average hotel occupancy throughout the month of July in 2022 was 80%. This weekend last year, the city achieved a hotel occupancy rate of 95%. An occupancy of 95% is also expected this weekend.
