The police cleared an apartment in Neukölln occupied by activists on Sunday evening.

The 12-room apartment in a rear building on Hermannstrasse was occupied in the afternoon. According to residents and activists, the apartment has been empty for two years.

According to other residents who wanted to buy their apartment, the owner refused. The apartment is to be converted into office space by the owner. The residents also fear extensive renovations and modernization of the house and corresponding rent increases.

According to the police, around 80 sympathizers had also gathered in front of the house.

After the owner reported it, the police cleared the occupied apartment around 9 p.m. At this point, three activists are said to have barricaded themselves there. The police were on site with numerous officers from a hundred units.
