Ostend residents have their blood checked after PFAS pollution around the airport
Today 30 people have their blood tested for free in Raversijde. There has been concern about soil pollution here since May. Research by OVAM shows a possible PFAS contamination. Local residents received a letter that they are no longer allowed to eat vegetables from their garden. Depending on the perimeter around the airport, 500 to 3,000 people would be at risk.
They also called on people near the Silvamo landfill in Kortemark to have their blood tested and thus check whether the environmental pollution is affecting their health.
