Author Laura Friman talks about her moments with Miki Liukkonen in her social media publication.
PASI LEISMA
The sudden death of writer Miki Liukkonen has touched people both in Finland and abroad, and several public figures remembered the late writer on social media on Wednesday.
Liukkonen’s writer friend Laura Freeman shared on his Instagram channel feel free to updatein which he recalls his relationship with the late Liukko.
Friman describes the day of the 33-year-old writer’s death as “an incredibly sad and strange day”. According to Friman, Liukkonen’s death is a great loss for the literary world, the Finnish media, and the loved ones of the deceased.
– I love people with whom I skip small talk. Miki didn’t know the whole sport at all and that was a gift. From the beginning, we talked about the darkest recesses and big secrets of mental health and illness, even though our contact was completely random. Sometimes we were just quiet, no pressure. It was wonderful! Friman recalls.
He has added several photos taken with Liukkonen to the publication he shared. In one of the pictures, Liukkonen is stroking a guinea pig, and Friman describes Liukkonen as being very fond of animals.
– Miki loved animals. He never asked how I was, but our cats always did. In this (picture), he is rapturously stroking Mercedes’ guinea pig, Friman writes in his publication.
In other pictures, Liukkonen can be seen, for example, in the Lintula monastery and as a writer Antti Nylénin behind the front door.
“Warm condolences”
According to Friman, Liukkonen was a kind and special person whose “miraculous brain” he already misses.
– In my work, I scripted interviews for Miki for both radio and television. Well, it was a fiasco because he was not a person to script anything. That’s why I was too often frustrated when he didn’t act at all as I hoped, writes Friman.
– He wasn’t really a team worker, although he wasn’t selfish or mean, but very kind – sometimes just right in the yard and, of course, especially when he was unwell. He had a special and wonderful brain. I already miss them, the writer remembers his friend.
In the last photo of the publication, Friman and Liukkonen are standing on the terrace with their party entourage with a summer sunset in the background.
– Joint parties over the years. Too foggy, just right foggy, Friman remembers the moment and ends his update on participation.
– Warm condolences to the family, he writes and ends his update with a heart.
