Erica Meiland responds to the argument between her daughters Maxime and Montana about the sky-high salary the family receives for Chateau Meiland. “Well, you have to divide it neatly.”
The Meilandjes earn an incredible amount of money with their successful program Chateau Meiland on SBS 6. Martien is of course the main character and Erica is his life companion; together they take most of the Talpa loot. But their daughters also want something, especially Maxime pushes her parents very much to get a bigger slice of the cake.
Montana is angry
Now Maxime reveals that she was also very pissed off about her sister Montana’s wages. She tells in her book: “Montana is also bad, you know. When we made Chateau Bijstand, she came for two afternoons and wanted to get paid too. She said, ‘We have a deal, I get paid for every episode, whether I’m in it or not.’”
She continues: “But that was not the case with Chateau Bijstand. That is just a bridge too far for me. (…) Would she have sent an official email to my mother at all with what had been agreed. She’s much worse than me. Because if she doesn’t work, she still wants money.”
‘totally fine’
What does Montana think about Maxime calling this out in her book? She says in the Weekend: “I think it’s all fine, because everyone has an opinion. We get so much thrown at our heads, I don’t care anyway. She must know that my sister wants to put that on paper. Only little remains for me to tell!”
That also indirectly costs her money, says Montana. “It no longer has its own book. All those books already contain parts of me, haha!”
What does Erica say?
What does Erica think of all this fiddling about money? She says in the Private: “Well, you have to divide it neatly and we occasionally adjust that. We said to Montana, ‘Whether you’re in it or not, you get a certain percentage,’ and then if everyone agrees, we’ll just do it that way.’”
She continues: “Maxime is very nice in the series, very quick and funny. She has a large share, then that should also be rewarded. We always get there.”
