The spokesman for the Junta de Extremadura, Juan Antonio González, this morning encouraged the residents of Don Benito and Villanueva de la Serena to come “massively” to vote in the referendum next Sunday on the merger of the two Badajoz municipalities. In his opinion, this date with the polls will be “historic”, while “It is serving to make Extremadura a reference and an example for all of Spain”.
“While in some parts of the world there is a lot of polarization, tension, separatism and localism are growing, in Extremadura there are two populations that they want to merge because it will be a comparative and comparative advantage not only for the two municipalities, but for all of Extremadura”González highlighted at the press conference after the Governing Council.
In this line, the spokesman for the Executive has stated that Extremadurans should feel “proud of the example that the merger is giving throughout Spain”. “We encourage all the citizens of the two towns to go vote next Sunday and we are sure that this process will serve for other populations to follow these examples, in the not too distant future”has underlined.
