Swimmer taken from Zuiderplas still died in hospital

The man who had to be rescued from the Zuiderplas last night died in hospital today. That’s what the police just reported.

The victim is a 21-year-old man from Schijndel. The man, who is staying there in an azc, had gone swimming with another man at the Zuiderplas. The other man raised the alarm when he no longer saw his companion surfacing. After more than half an hour of searching, divers saw the man lying on the bottom of the Zuiderplas.

Divers found the victim at the bottom of the pond in Den Bosch. He was resuscitated and taken to Radboudumc in Nijmegen in a critical condition. “We wish his loved ones a lot of strength,” the police said.
