John also introduced the Nashville singer-songwriter Stephen Sanchezwhom he introduced as “a surprising young talent” who impressed him when he heard him for the first time last year on the radio and who performed “Until I found You” (a song by Sánchez).

The Killers frontman Brandon Flowerswhom the musician referred to as his ‘dear friend and fantastic artist’, accompanied him on ‘Tiny Dancer’ and British-Japanese artist Rina Sawayama performed ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ alongside him.

In the final stretch of the show, the singer-songwriter dedicated the song ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me’ to the memory of his ‘friend’ and ‘inspiration’ george michael, who died in 2016 and who would have turned 60 today and said goodbye.
