No FC Bayern or BVB: Eintracht star wins award

National player Jamal Musiala made his mark on the past Bundesliga season. With 12 goals and 12 assists each, he was FC Bayern’s best scorer and also secured the German championship for the Munich team with his late winning goal on the last day of the game at 1. FC Köln. But neither Musiala nor BVB superstar Jude Bellingham, who moved to Real Madrid, were voted the supposedly best player of the year by their Bundesliga colleagues – they were simply the hit at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Randal Kolo Muani won the traditional vote of the “kicker”, who asked the players themselves, among other things, about the field player who had “impressed them the most in terms of sport”. On Sunday, the specialist magazine published the results of its survey, in which, according to its own statements, 252 Bundesliga professionals took part.

With a strong 24.2 percent of all votes cast, Kolo Muani secured first place in this poll.

The French runners-up in the world had only finished a moderate seventh place in the Bundesliga final table with Eintracht Frankfurt, but stood out with some outstanding footballing performances in the SGE shirt.

BVB star Bellingham is second

In his first Bundesliga season, Kolo Muani contributed 29 goals in 32 games, scoring in both games against FC Bayern and SC Freiburg.

The 24-year-old secured first place in the vote ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham. The midfield star had developed into the absolute leading player in the runners-up this season at the age of just 19.

He is moving to Spanish record champions Real Madrid this summer for a fee of 103 million euros. Bellingham received 17.5 percent of the votes from his previous colleagues.

Bundesliga top scorer Niclas Füllkrug from SV Werder Bremen came third in the renowned “kicker” poll with 11.9 percent of the votes cast.
