Storm: schools closed earlier

In the 40 schools of the Impactgroep, the students can go home this afternoon as early as 12 noon. The decision comes out of fear of the storm. That is what the spokeswoman for the school group said. Normally classes end at 3 pm, but today this is exceptionally possible at noon. It is not certain that all pupils from every school will be able to go home earlier.

“Each director of every branch can decide this for himself,” says the secretariat. “For now, it’s about schools in Assebroek and Knokke-Heist which already close at noon”.

The Impact school group has schools, mainly in Bruges but also in Torhout, Zedelgem, De Haan, Blankenberge and Knokke-Heist.

School group Stroom Oostende will also close all doors from 12 pm

School group Stroom in Ostend decided at half past six this morning to close the 28 schools this afternoon. That is what general manager Chris Vandecasteele says.

“The heaviest point of the storm is expected just after school has ended and everyone goes home as normal. So, for safety’s sake, we close our schools already at noon. We also use our bus transport to get everyone home safely. does not have childcare, the school still provides childcare at school,” says general director Chris Vandecasteele.

Also the lower of the Sint Pieterscollege in Blankenberge closes all doors at 12 noon.
