Very occasionally it happens that someone falls into the butter with his nose. It happened to the novice singer-songwriter Niek Daamen from Tilburg. To get money for an album, Niek went door to door with art. Unsuspectingly, he rang the doorbell at… Guus Meeuwis. And so began a little adventure.
“I decided to sell artwork for my album door-to-door. I accidentally rang the doorbell of someone I thought I recognized. He came out, but this man was not wearing glasses so I couldn’t immediately see who it was. Turned out to be Gus.”
Yet he had to take his art home unsold again. Guus had no money with him at that time. The – at that time – cashless singer wanted to mean something to his unknown fellow townsman.
He therefore invited Niek to come to his concert in pop stage 013. There the career of the talented Niek got a new impulse. That evening contact was made and Guus was able to draw his wallet lavishly.
“I am still impressed by it,” Niek said extensively on Friday evening in the new radio program WieKent Bjorn on Omroep Brabant.
