Although Thomas Müller was no longer an undisputed regular at FC Bayern in the past season, the appreciation for the Munich long-running favorite on Säbener Straße is still enormous. The 33-year-old himself apparently still feels very comfortable with the record champions and does not waste a thought on saying goodbye – to the chagrin of some very wealthy interested parties.
Even without a guaranteed commitment, Thomas Müller was again an important factor at FC Bayern in the 2022/2023 season. The experienced player always put himself at the service of the team and, with 20 points (eight goals, twelve assists) in 40 competitive games, played his part in ensuring that a difficult year ended on a positive note.
It seems that Müller wants to attack the German industry leader again in the new season. Although the long-time international under coach Thomas Tuchel often commuted between the starting eleven and the bench, there are still many indications that he will remain at FCB. His current contract expires in 2024, after which the end of his career could follow.
FC Bayern: Thomas Müller rejects the Saudi offer
According to reports, Müller could have dared another new adventure in Saudi Arabia this summer. According to information from the Turkish transfer expert Ekrem Konur, the offensive man, like his 2014 world champion colleagues Mario Götze (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), was courted by Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad.
All three are said to have immediately rejected the advances. A setback for the Saudi league, which had recently made the international transfer market unsafe and attracted (aging) superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
For Müller, however, an engagement in the desert was apparently out of the question – even if he could certainly have collected a lot of money there. Of course, he doesn’t earn badly at Bayern either…
