New accessibility plan launched in Ostend

New accessibility plan launched in Ostend

From now on, two major axes will divide Ostend’s city center into four zones. There is especially more room for pedestrians and cyclists. For example, some streets have changed direction and some important streets such as Hendrik Serruyslaan and Sint-Sebastiaanstraat are now pedestrian zones.

Traders react critically

According to the city council, the accessibility plan should mainly prevent search traffic in the city. The new plan should also benefit traders, although they react critically. “That is of course a difficulty for our customers. It is very difficult to collect ski equipment, rental equipment, fitness equipment, furniture from Lafuma,” says Filip Deweert, who runs a sports shop. The plan will be evaluated after the summer.
