The rubble from the supermarket is packed in large plastic bags, so-called big packs. Swarms of flies have found their new home in the rubble – to the annoyance of the residents.

The Netto branch on Müggelseedamm in Berlin-Friedrichshagen burned down completely on November 28, 2022. Since then, the fire ruins have been removed piece by piece. In addition to building materials and other fire waste, there is a lot of food from the discounter range in the garbage.

It attracts flies.

Restaurateur Frank Kampf (57) runs the Bräustübl next door. “At the beginning of May the flies came and as the temperature rose there were more and more,” he says.

He installed about 50 fly traps in his restaurant after guests complained.

It is unclear when the separate waste will be picked up. A spokeswoman for the Treptow-Köpenick district: “As far as the district office is aware, the removal will be delayed because the disposal of fire waste is subject to special regulations.”

The garbage has already been analyzed. And a possible rat infestation was also fought, according to the “Tagesspiegel”.

The problem: The environmental administration has to decide how the rubble is to be disposed of. When the time comes: unclear! And it is not yet certain whether the net market will be rebuilt.
