There is a lot going on in the capital on the first weekend in June – the cup final between Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig and the ADFC rally lead to some traffic restrictions.
Tens of thousands of fans from Frankfurt and Leipzig are expected to attend the DFB Cup final on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
The Hessians meet at Breitscheidplatz for their fan festival, the Leipzigers can be found at Hammarskjöldplatz near the radio tower. From there it goes in the afternoon via Masurenallee, Messedamm, Jafféstraße and further via Heerstraße and Flatowallee to the stadium.
The traffic information center (VIZ) could not say anything about a planned fan march by Frankfurt on Thursday: “However, it cannot be ruled out that further fan groups will organize themselves and spontaneous meetings will arise in other parts of the city.”
S-Bahn and U-Bahn run more frequently and with longer trains. The Olympic Stadium is open until midnight, the Maifeld even until 2 a.m.
Bicycle rally on Sunday
On Sunday, the streets of Berlin belong to the cyclists at the traditional bicycle rally. There are a total of 18 routes under the motto “Viva la Radvolution” from around 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. to the Großer Stern in the Tiergarten.
According to the VIZ, closures and restrictions are to be expected throughout the city from the morning on Sunday. From 11 a.m. it will be tight around the following streets:
► Königstraße (B1) – Potsdamer Chaussee – A115 (AVUS) – Messedamm – Kantstraße – Bismarckstraße – Ernst-Reuter-Platz – Straße des 17. Juni – Großer Stern
► Grenzallee – Buschkrugallee – Silbersteinstraße – Oberlandstraße – A100 – Messedamm – Kantstraße – Bismarckstraße – Ernst-Reuter-Platz – Straße des 17. Juni – Großer Stern

The Berlin autobahns are also affected, probably between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.!
► A113/A100 FR Wedding (North) between AS Späthstraße and AS Messedamm
► A100/A113 FR Neukölln (south) between AS Spandauer Damm and AS Späthstraße
► A115 (AVUS) between the Zehlendorf interchange and the Funkturm interchange
Even if the cyclists are only heading into town, the lanes will be closed in both directions, the VIZ announced.
Important: During the event, cyclists are only permitted to drive onto the motorway at the Kreuz Zehlendorf, Spanish Allee, Oberlandstraße and Tempelhofer Damm junctions!
After exiting the Autobahn, the groups meet for the final section via Messedamm – Kantstrasse – Kaiser-Friedrich-Strasse – Bismarckstrasse – Strasse des 17. Juni. In the period from 1.30 p.m. to 3 p.m. it is probably not possible to cross, according to the VIZ. In general, a crossing – even for pedestrians – is not possible while cyclists are on the route.
The environmental festival will take place at the end of the rally from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Straße des 17. Juni between Großer Stern and Brandenburger Tor, as well as Ebertstraße between Scheidemannstraße and Behrenstraße, will be closed from 4 a.m. to midnight.
Triathlon in the Plänterwald
The Berlin Triathlon in Plänterwald is also sporty. Around 1000 participants are out and about from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“The running course runs through Treptower Park, mostly on the pedestrian/bicycle path on Puschkinallee. The cycle route is designed as a circuit and leads via Neue Krugallee, Baumschulenstraße, Köpenicker Landstraße, Alt-Treptow, Puschkinallee and Bulgarische Straße. The Bulgarische Straße and Neue Krugallee are completely closed for this event, ”said the VIZ. The Köpenicker Landstraße is closed from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Baumschulenstraße.
