TOGoing on holiday this summer risks involving «a real drain, because of the heavy price increases recorded in the sector in the last period». The complaint reaches Absolute users which, on the basis of official Istat data, carried out a study on holiday prices by comparing the price lists of accommodation services in various Italian cities.
In the last month, the prices of holidays and the rates of accommodation facilities “have risen on average by +15.2% compared to 2022, with peaks of +18% for hotels and motels, while holiday villages and campsites cost 11, 1% more»
Skyrocketing holiday prices (up to +43%)
The heaviest increases are recorded in the cities of art, i.e. those that have seen the greatest number of visitors in the last period. Emblematic case Florence: the Tuscan capital is in first place in the ranking of expensive hotels. In the last month the price lists of accommodation facilities have increased by +43.2% compared to last year. In second place we find Milanwhich records tariffs up by +38% on an annual basis».
Surprisingly among the cities that see the rates of accommodation facilities rise rapidly, the association places Campobasso in third place (+28.9%). They follow Venice (+25.7%), Palermo (+25.3%) and Ferrara (+24.6%).
The ranking of seaside resorts based on cost
Even the seaside resorts, typical summer holiday destinations, have begun to adjust the price lists of hotels, b&bs and holiday villages: this is the case of Sardiniawhere in Olbia-Tempio the increases are in the order of +20.3%, but also in Puglia and in Emilia Romagna increases were recorded (from +15% to +17%).
In only three Italian provinces, on the other hand, housing prices show an inverse trend with rates decreasing compared to last year: this is the case of Caltanissetta (-5.8%), Viterbo (-5.3%) and Trapani (-4.1%). Cutting vacation days, or vacations entirely, will be the only solution for many Italians.
