In fifty years, unemployment was not that low and the staff shortage not so high. This causes enormous headaches for entrepreneurs, but offers employees opportunities for a better-paid job.
The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) announced that unemployment fell to 3.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021. According to CBS chief economist Peter Hein van Mulligen, ‘you have to go back almost fifty years’ for a period when there were so few unemployed people and such a crying shortage of skilled workers.
How can this shortage be solved? Should wages go up? Is paying a decent salary the solution to the staff shortage?
