Patty Brard turns out to be guilty of the loud alarm that turned last night’s Shownieuws broadcast completely upside down. “It came from her phone, which was in the corner.”
For the first time in history, the Shownieuws broadcast had to be interrupted early last night by commercials, because a particularly loud alarm went off. No less than ten (!) times that alarm started to sound again, making it untenable for the experts at the desk to continue talking.
Loud alarm
Where did this sound come from? Evert Santegoeds reveals it today in his podcast Strictly Private. “It was bad. Suddenly an alarm went off. We always shout: we’ve been there for so long, 15 years. Even if the decor falls over, you think: is the decor falling over? But yesterday there was an alarm.”
He continues: “Yes, there are enough people walking through that studio to know there isn’t a terrible raging fire going on, so we just kept going as best we could. Speak a little louder to get over that horrible siren. And yes, the technical service: nobody had any idea where that noise came from.”
Patty’s phone
The technical service checked all alarm systems, but could not find anything. “And that could be right, because it didn’t come from the studio either, but from Patty Brard’s phone, it turned out a little later. She had an alarm at home and it’s on her phone. And even if your phone is off, that thing starts beeping.”
Was there something wrong at home with Patty in Almere? “Well, nothing was wrong there, but her husband Antoine was sitting there and he heard the alarm at home and heard the alarm on television. He really thought: what now?! It has begun! It really is now the end of time.”
‘How is it possible?!’
Jordi Versteegden, the presenter of the podcast, finds it striking that the sound of a telephone can turn the entire studio upside down. “But how is that possible? It was in Patty’s phone?”
Evert: “Yes, but it was in the corner of the studio and that wall is a bit bent there. And the acoustics there are gigantic. The sound of that telephone was actually heard in all those living rooms. Yes, I said: it’s like The Dik Voormekaar Show.”
scolding
It will be very uncomfortable for Patty that it was she who turned out to have disrupted the Shownieuws broadcast, because she is known to dislike unprofessional employees.
She also scolded presenter Manuel Venderbos yesterday when he just wanted to continue during the alarm: “I would go to an instart (video, ed.) If I were you…”
