British version The Traitors wins two prestigious TV awards | show

The UK version of The Traitors won two Baftas, Britain’s top television award, last night. The originally Dutch program received a statuette for the Best Reality Program category and presenter Claudia Winkleman was also awarded.

Different from the RTL program The Traitors no stars, but 22 ‘ordinary’ Brits. Find out in a Scottish castle which of them is the ‘traitor’ who has to eliminate the others. The winner can win £120,000. The show has been broadcast in Great Britain since November and has since gained a considerable fan base there.

On receiving the award, Winkleman, 51, spoke of the moment she was in talks with the BBC about the show. “I said, ‘Okay, just to be clear, we’re going to Scotland, we’ve got some cloaks, we’re going to use the word ‘murder’, I’ve got a big turtleneck and I’m holding a ceremonial pouch, is that okay with you? And they said ‘go for it’.”

In the run-up to the recordings, she herself also had her doubts. At first she turned down the role as a presenter. The BBC asked if she would please watch the Dutch version of RTL 4, and she did. “My children were no longer fed, I no longer brushed my teeth. I watched the Dutch version crying. I loved it so much”, she previously told The Graham Norton Show. “So I called the boss and said, ‘I’m catching the train, please let me do it’.”

Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet, Ben Whishaw and Anne-Marie Duff, among others, were also allowed to pick up an award at the presentation of the Bafta Television Awards on Sunday. The serials Bad Sisters, Derry Girls and I Am Ruth each won two Baftas.

Winslet won the British Television Award for her leading role in the series I Am Ruth, which also won the Best Standalone Drama Series award. Whishaw won a statuette for his starring role in the series This is Going to Hurt. Duff’s contribution to the series Bad Sisters was voted Best Supporting Actress. The men’s honor went to Adeel Akhtar for his role in Sherwood.

The best international series was Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The Netflix series defeated, among other things Wednesday and The WhiteLotus. The best sports report was the registration of the European Football Championship for women, which was won by England last year.
