A 22-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from Den Bosch have to go to prison because they committed explosive attacks in Germany. That happened between November 2019 and February 2020. The man was sentenced to five years in prison by the judge. The woman has to go to prison for a year.
The court in Utrecht determined this on Thursday. The couple belonged to a group of five criminals who were very professional and calculating. Everyone had their own task.
Explosive pizza slices
The man from Den Bosch actually committed the explosive attacks. The woman did the preparatory work. She made so-called ‘pizza slices’. These are flat bags with explosive material that could be slid into the ATMs.
The police later found those explosive substances in a storage room in Den Bosch. At that time, an entire residential block had to be evacuated.
Eavesdropping equipment
The group ran into the lamp because the blown-up ATMs were of the same brand. When one of the suspects ordered several vending machines of that brand and had them delivered to an address in Utrecht, the German police became suspicious.
She suspected that they were bought for technical examination and for test explosions. The police placed eavesdropping devices in the ordered machines and thus tracked down the criminal organization.
The man from Den Bosch had made incriminating statements about the other suspects and then fled. The police tracked him down at the end of March. After a wild chase, he was arrested in Den Bosch.
